What we won’t claim, and what we haven’t fixed.
Most products in this space add scores and labels because they demo well. We leave them out on purpose.
Refused
Things SycaMore will not do.
No impact scores
A score built from self-reported numbers isn’t a measurement.
No rarity percentages
There’s no population to base them on — and no column to store one.
No career claims
A record says what someone did, not what they’re qualified for.
No leaderboards
Not on young people’s service. Not even opt-in.
No “at risk” labels
Coordinators see days since someone served, as a plain number.
No GPS check-in
Creek beds are where GPS fails. A false “you’re not here” breaks trust.
No free-text revocations
A fixed reason list, so nobody can write anything about a named teenager.
No invented checkout times
A missing checkout is zero until a coordinator enters the real figure.
No deleting anything
Corrections are added beside the original. Nothing is erased.
Disclosed, not solved
The weaknesses, said out loud.
A coordinator can still over-attest.
The volunteer can’t touch the number, every adjustment is printed on the record, and records are spot-checked with volunteers.
SycaMore didn’t watch the work.
It records arrival and departure, and verifies the organization. Every record says so.
A check-in code can be shared.
A coordinator sees the roster in front of the real crowd, and confirms each person individually.
We verify identity, not conduct.
A verified organization is who it says it is. That isn’t an endorsement of its programs.
Check the claims against the build.
Every refusal above is enforced in the demo’s database, not just stated here.
